Lamebook is one of the funniest sites on the web right now. It's almost as funny, in my opinion, as its sister site, People of Wal-Mart, which I have to check occasionally to see if I'm on it (not yet). Lamebook is a site where people can upload copies of some of the funniest status updates and photos that Facebook users have put on their public Facebook profiles. The names have been redacted, to protect Facebook users' privacy. Actually, if Facebook were worried about their users' privacy, I could almost understand them considering a lawsuit against Lamebook. Of course I would expect them to carefully review the content on Lamebook, and see that this type of lawsuit would be...well, lame.
Unfortunately, in the ultimate display of true Lameness, and demonstrating absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever, Facebook is suing Lamebook for copyright infringement. See more, HERE.
So, hopefully, reason will prevail in the end, and some court or judge will explain to Facebook that they don't actually own the copyright to every site that uses the word "book," in its name. I would think that Facebook's marketing department would enjoy the mutual promotion, but...sigh.
Well, if Lamebook goes down, there's always Failbook, by the same people who brought us ICanHasCheezburger.com (with all the cute cats).
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
