Have you ever heard that a famous actor from the early 1900s died, and reacted by saying, "He was still alive?!" That's how I felt Monday when I began reading in the news feeds that Sony is retiring its casette Walkman after over 30 years. Yes, a few people were apparently still buying these portable cassette players, presumably to play their old cassette tapes.
Well, in case you didn't already have a good reason, this is apparently one more good one to transfer all of that music to MP3 files.
Don't worry - you'll still be able to get your Walkman on, however, if really NEED to. China is still going to produce the cassettte player to sell to third world countries, or you can still get a pretty good deal on one on EBay. Hurry - they'll be antiques soon.
